Teddy Chipouras

Immense power can be found in simplicity. Many musicians fail to recognize that, but Teddy Chipouras is the exception.
— Jake Conley

Teddy Chipouras is a singer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist best known as a founding member of the Virginia-based folk-rock trio Palmyra, and he also writes and performs music under his own name.

Currently based in Staunton, Virginia, Teddy’s music draws on folk, Americana, and rock, shaped by years of performing and writing. He began performing solo as a teenager, playing venues and festivals across Virginia, and released two full-length albums under his own name before forming Palmyra.

As part of Palmyra, Teddy has toured nationally, performing at renowned festivals including Newport Folk Festival and Winnipeg Folk Festival, on legendary stages such as 9:30 Club, Lincoln Theatre, and The Broadberry, and has shared bills with artists including Watchhouse, The Backseat Lovers, and Mipso. The band’s 2025 debut full-length record, Restless, earned recognition from outlets like Uproxx, NPR Music, The Bluegrass Situation, and Rolling Stone.

Evolving with each project, Teddy’s solo work combines sharper songwriting with a fearless approach to sound. His songs explore themes like guilt, grief, love, and family - moving through unexpected rhythms, shifts in energy, and inventive use of the instruments he plays live. Each performance is guided by his storytelling instincts and a sense of sonic curiosity.
